Michael Frank Van Beveren was born on January 19, 1963 in Berwyn, Illinois to Glen VanBeveren and Sandra Savage. He was the youngest of 4 children that included brothers, Glen and Dennis and his sister Sandra.
Michael was raised in North Las Vegas where he attended Tom Williams Elementary, JD Smith Jr. High and Rancho High School. One of Michael's passions in life was sports. He enjoyed softball and football, but he dominated on the basketball court. It was during his high school days at Rancho and his college years at Mt. San Jacinto and So. Cal Baptist that he received many basketball honors and awards including Most Valuable Player.
Michael especially enjoyed his time in California that he decided to make it his home. It was in 1990 while driving trucks hauling asphalt in San Jacinto that Mike met the love of his life Deniece Woods. They married on June 8, 1996. Mike always had a love for animals. Throughout his life he had many cats and dogs. He was very fond of a black cat named Pumpkin. Michael and Deniece raised her from a bottle. She was their baby.
Friends were a big part of Michael's life. He was extremely easy to get along with and was a good friend to everyone. If you met Michael as a stranger, you left as a friend. Michael will be considerably missed. He will always be remembered for his athletic talents, but his kind heart will forever shine the brightest. Michael was a genuine soul who cared about others and their well being. We look forward to the day when we reunite and hear his wonderful laugh and see his warm smile.
