Background
Paul Ogle, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by immediate family and loved ones. Paul was born in Battle Creek, Michigan. Paul grew up in Dayton, Tennessee with his parents, Reba Louise Ogle and William Robert Ogle in addition to siblings, William, Richard, Howard, and Barbara (Sally) Ogle. Paul was a man of many remarkable stories, especially of his brothers and others running the hills of Tennessee stealing watermelons and whatever else they could find to get into mischief with. Paul joined the U.S. Navy on the 12 of August in 1953 and took a train to boot camp with his brother Bill that also joined, all the way from Memphis Tennessee to San Diego California. He loved every minute of the good Ol’ Navy days and lived to tell the stories that the Navy entailed. Paul earned a Good Conduct Medal, as well as a National Defense Service Ribbon. Paul met his soulmate Barbara Gerritsen in the year 1957, then married on the 20th of September in 1958 and resided in Huntington Beach, California, where Paul worked for Southern California Edison eventually moving the family of five children to Apple Valley, California in 1970.
As Paul continued working for 33 years and retired in 1989, amid all this he was able to build a beautiful home by himself and with the help of his friend and neighbor Pierce. The home was on 5 acres and is a custom five bed, three bath home, with a wraparound yard, as well as a coop for the hens and even had a beautiful garden full of vegetables and fruits to sizable slightly sunflowers. For his celebration of retirement, he took his whole family and spouses to Maui, Hawaii, for Christmas and New Year's! There were many wonderful memories that were made over the years and a few special ones that really stood out and touched everybody's heart. The memory that has stuck with the family was the celebration of Paul and Barbara’s 50th wedding anniversary, the couple took a trip around the United States in October of 2008, traveling from the west coast up to Mount Rushmore, through the Midwest, to the east coast and finally traveling south while simultaneously visiting family, and lifelong friends. Paul and Barb really enjoyed the trip they took for the celebration of their wedding anniversary and would continue to tell stories about the trip, Barbara even went to the extent of collecting rocks and sand for the grandchildren in every state visited! They had many other trips along the way. A big part of Paul and Barb’s retirement years were spent traveling, as well as watching their grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in academics to sports, and most importantly loving one another!
Paul, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, is now with the Lord running the hills of Heaven with his parents, brothers, and other family members and lifelong friends! He is preceded in death by his father William and his mother Louise and brothers, William, Richard, Howard Ogle. He is survived by his beautiful wife Barbara Ogle, his children and their spouses, Renee LaValli (Rusty), the twins Stephen Ogle (Jillmarie) and Michael Ogle (Robin), Tammy Thompson (James) and Glenn Ogle (Heidi). Paul and Barbara have 13 grandchildren in addition to 10 great grandchildren! Paul was a great person to surround yourself with, and those who had the pleasure of knowing him will say how funny and witty he was. Paul was the type of person to make you laugh with his quick wit and jokes and make you feel right at home no matter what.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved by everyone!
