

Andrew Marvin Askland was born on April 25, 1929 at Britton Marshal County, South Dakota. His parents were Andrew Kerner Askland and Inez Mary Stearns.
He was raised on the Askland farm north of Britton, South Dakota. In March 1946 he joined the United States Navy In San Diego, California. He was on the U.S.S. Springfield as a Fireman First Class. He left the Navy with an Honorable Discharge on April 1, 1948.
He married the love of his life, Le Ellen June Roedocker, on May 14, 1949 in Webster, South Dakota. In May 1949 he went to Moler Barber College in Fargo North Dakota. After graduating he moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota. He was a barber at Sherman and Linmore Hotels.
Later he went to work for Hub City Iron (Safe Guard) manufacturing company until he retired in 1999.
After retiring, he moved to his beloved State of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Le Ellen June Askland, two sons, 1 daughter, 1 grandson Keith, one great granddaughter Alexandria, and a sister who was still born.
From their marriage, Five Children were born: Marvin Douglas Askland (deceased), Sherry Lea Askland, of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Sherman Lee Askland (deceased), Arthur Steve Askland of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Tracy Jo Tanner (deceased).
He had a Love for and he knew his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! He gave his life to Christ at an early age. He was a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Aberdeen, South Dakota. He also drove the church school bus on Sundays. He had a love for old cars and motorcycles.
He leaves to cherish his memories 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, along with a host of relatives and friends.

Services for Andrew Askland date 05/04/2023 at DFW National Cemetery.
Andrew Askland will always be remembered as a wonderful, son, friend, father, husband and colleague to all that knew and cared for him. Mr. Andrew Askland will truly be missed by all.
