Barbara Jean Loruse was born on April 15th, 1938 and passed from this life on June 10th, 2023. Barbara was born in Decatur, Texas to parents Robert and Lois McEntire. When she was three years old her family moved to Fort Worth, Texas and this is where she would grow up. Barbara would go on to attend and graduate from North Texas University, following this she would further her education by attending graduate school at Texas Tech.
In her earlier years she was a school year, teaching for 5 years in Lubbock, TX, 1 year in Irving, TX, and 1 year in Fort Worth. She would later leave teaching in 1967 to pursue a career at Tinker Air Force Base as a Reclamation Program Manager. Barbara decided on this career change due to her love of travel. She would meet and marry her husband, Domenic Loruse on September 23, 1988.
Barbara and Domenic loved to travel, and went on many trips and cruises together. They would travel to Hawaii several times, Alaska, almost every island in the Caribbean, Canada, numerous countries in Europe, and almost every state in the U.S. They would go to Connecticut once a year, as this is where Domenic grew up, Las Vegas frequently, and Texas quite often.
Barbara was involved in the National Active and Retired Federal Employee Association (NARFF). She was a member of the Gamma Zeta chapter of ESA. She also was a part of the Red Hat Thursday morning breakfast the Edmond Newcomer’s Club, as well as being a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. She enjoyed extensive world traveling and also loved to shop. She was a part of the 1st Wednesday Bunco group, as well as the Newcomer’s Bridge Group. Barbara ultimately loved keeping busy, and was always on the go or planning her next trip.
First and foremost Barbara loved the Lord, but she also deeply loved her family and the many good friends she met throughout her life. She could feel the love that they had for her as well. She loved keeping in touch with everyone, often writing cards to send to loved ones. Her family would like to thank all of those special friends that were a part of and helped to make her life so full.
