Billie Jean Smith Montgomery, age 88, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017. She was born December 4th, 1928 in Mineral Springs, Arkansas to William and Ophelia Smith. The prettiest girl in Arkansas married her beloved Hulon in 1948 and moved to Texas. As members of the Greatest Generation, together they had four children, Roger, Pam, Karen and baby boy Timothy. Their last home together was in Arlington on Arbor Lane where Billie resided for over 40 years. She was a homemaker, day care provider and then worked for Nationwide Advertising where she made new friends and loved it. She was a longtime member of Hillcrest Church of Christ in Arlington and then Smithfield Church of Christ in North Richland Hills till she became a resident of Emerald Hills Nursing Home where she received communion on Sundays from College Hill C of C volunteers. Billie had many friends over the years, she truly loved spending time with, Donna Franks, Mildred Geer, Mary Burgett, Dotty Ferri, Louise Gray, Blanche, Doris Morris and many many more. But her buddy and sister by love was Giovanna Gentry. They took care of each other for many many years, thru trials and tribulations, husbands deaths and raising children. Giovanna Gentry preceded Billie to glory and was waiting for her with a cup of coffee and a long talk to catch up.
Special thanks to Dariane Clark, Phyllis Young, Ruby Zavala and all at Emerald Hills Nursing home in North Richland Hills, these special people that made the days easier and the time pass. Your kindness and your heart will not be forgotten.
