Bobby Joe Strickland, 79, of Arlington, passed away at his residence on Saturday, June 23, surrounded by his family. He was born in Leroy, Tx, to J.M. and Maggie Strickland. he was raised in Hillsboro where he worked on the family farm. He married Barbara Dollar on March 19, 1954 and they moved to Arlington in 1962 where Bobby worked at the GM assembly plant for 38 years. They had two sons, David and Douglas who were also raised in Arlington.
He loved being outdoors whether it was working in the yard or planting flowers and if you drove by the family home, it was apparent that Bobby had a "green thumb." He loved his church and he loved his family.
Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by a son, David; his parents; four brothers and a sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara; son, Douglas of Mansfield; sister, Thelma Jones of Springtown, Tx; three brothers; Vernon Strickland and W.D. Strickland of Hillsboro, Tx, and Leo Strickland of Arlington; numerous nieces and nephews.
