

Bruce Edward Chowning, Age 66 of Arlington, TX, passed away on March 26, 2022. He was born in Muskogee, OK, on March 12, 1956. Bruce attended High School at Muskogee, OK, and graduated from Hinsdale, IL in 1974. He received a Bachelor of Music Education from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1980 and a Master of Art in Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1998. He married Karen Marlene Coffey while at OBU. Bruce had a bivocational career in Music and Restaurant Management. He was Music Director at various Baptist Churches in Oklahoma and Texas and Director of the Texas Rotary Chorus. He was a member of the North Central Singing Men of Texas, The Master Singers, The Spectacular Senior Follies, and the Arlington Sunset Rotary Club. Bruce had a passion for singing and traveling and playing many band instruments but mostly Trombone and Tuba. In fact, he was a Band Member at all 4 schools he attended. He also participated in Orchestra, Choir, and Hand Bells at the many churches that he has attended over the years. He loved his Bassett Hounds, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and especially the Oklahoma Sooners! He also loved telling jokes and making people laugh.
Bruce is preceded by his parents Eldon and Kathryn Chowning, Sister Nona Carol, and Brother Lynn Chowning.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marlene Chowning; children Jennifer and Son-in-Law Steve Cooper, and Andy Chowning; Granddaughters Elizabeth and Riley Cooper; Brother Dwight Chowning, Sisters Debra Mooring, Theresa Rhoades, and Karen Gosselin as well as many extended family and an abundance of friends.
