Charlotte was born May 26, 1947 in Ft Worth, Texas to Isaac and Charlotte Avon Barnes. Her and her identical twin sister, Shelia, entered the world just as they would one day leave it: strong, chatty and kind.
Their young years in Ft. Worth consisted of playing around the house, cooking with mom, wearing the beautiful clothes Mom used to make for them, trips to Lake Whitney to visit family, and finding every opportunity to use their identical-ness to their advantage. Tricking boyfriends, their little brother Chris, teachers and even their parents. No one was safe. The Barnes family moved to Arlington in the late 50s, where Charlotte attended Arlington High, the place she would meet her high school sweetheart and forever love, Doyle Evans. Charlotte and Doyle soon brought two babies into the world, David Evans and Tammy (Evans) Ayres. Charlotte became a stay at home mama, raising the kids for several years until re-entering the workforce. With her love of shopping, accessories, silver and turquoise jewelry and anything leopard print, it’s no surprise Charlotte went into retail, managing stores for several years. She eventually transitioned into the mortgage business, where she built a respected, long-term career until retiring in 2014. Over the years, Charlotte and Doyle spent their time traveling with friends, enjoying cold Miller Lites, taking the boat out, and spending as much time as possible with their growing family. The addition of her grandsons, Daniel and Diesel Ayres, brought immense joy to her life. She existed to love (and spoil) them. She loved to talk on the phone for hours with her girlfriends, checking in daily to get the scoop around town. She was as selfless as she was kind, and wanted to know every detail about your life. No matter how small, she loved to hear it. She enriched the life of so many through her compassion for others, her style, her love of chit-chat and love of her family. She will be dearly missed. We take solace knowing she is sitting in a rocking chair with Doyle, finally reunited and looking down over us.
Survivors: Her son David Evans of Arlington; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Dan Ayres of Midlothian; grandsons Daniel and Diesel Ayres; brother and sister-n-law, Chris and Mary Barnes of Dallas; and numerous, nieces, nephews and family members.
