Dr. Claudia Blair Tucker Dickson Porter
Our beloved “Nanu” went to be with the Lord, Friday, October 6, 2017. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee on October 22, 1925 and raised in Bruce, Mississippi where she graduated as Salutatorian in 1941. After attending Nursing School during World War II and marrying in Colorado, she then spent the next 60 years as a military wife, having 5 children and stationed at 7 different Air Force bases before moving to Arlington, TX.
She thoroughly enjoyed a lifetime of raising kids, doting on grand kids and great grand kids, traveling the world and continuously wanting to learn. Along the way, she went back to school obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Education, Masters in Information and Library Science and her Doctorate in Developmental Disabilities. She was also honored numerous times in Who’s Who in American Women. She had a passion for travel, going to museums, loved art and always had a perpetual quest for knowledge.
Nanu always made a place in her home and her heart for all and made every occasion special. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and many friends. Heaven gained a feisty, compassionate, independent and loving angel.
She is survived by 5 children: daughters Susan Morrison (husband Jerry) of Arlington, Andi Darby (husband Bob) of Texarkana, Donna Stephens (husband Roy) of Silsbee, sons Reid Dickson of Arlington, and Bryan Dickson (wife Bev) of Plano, 8 grandchildren: Margaret Darby of Colorado, John Morrison of North Carolina, Katherine Cornelius (husband Jeff) of Roanoke, Jason Stephens of Houston, Joshua Stephens (wife Rene) of Silsbee, Stephanie Rought (husband Mike) of North Carolina, Robby Darby (wife Krysten) of Texarkana, Jacob Dickson (wife Eli) of North Carolina, Kimi Ortega (husband Jose) of Haslett. 10 great grandchildren: Mikaela Casias, Erica Ortega, Cole Coburn, Emma Ortega, Waylon Rogers, Liam Dickson, Cade Rought, Luke Stephens, Zane Rought, and Evelina Dickson.
