

Memorial service: 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Moore Funeral Home, 4216 S. Bowen Road, Arlington. Visitation: 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

He was born Aug. 8, 1946, to Mamie Holderness Grannan and Francis Grannan in Duluth, Minn. He grew up in Milwaukee, Wis., and was a transplanted Texan. He served in the Army 1963-1966 for the military police in Germany.
The bulk of his career was spent as an independent contractor for The Dallas Morning News and retired in 2009.
He was preceded in death by his mother; father; stepfather, Max Hoffmier; brother, Robert Gibson; sister-in-law, Eileen Gibson; and brother-in-law, James Stephenson.
Survivors: Sister, Colleen Stephenson; brother, Dennis Grannan (Sue); his children, Benjamin Grannan (Sheila), Jeremy Grannan (Sarah) and Kristina Talkowski (Rich); grandchildren, Noah, Matthew, Andrew, Rachel, Courtney and Sarah; nieces and nephews, Robert Jr., Carrie, Angela, Joseph, Jennifer and Kimberly; several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins; and many friends.
