Danny Howard Wood

Danny Howard Wood was born May 3, 1951, to the late Lois (Rife) and the late Deb Wood in Fort Worth, Texas. It is with deep sadness that his family said a final goodbye to Danny on January 26, 2025. We will miss his infectious personality and love of life.

Danny was known for his larger-than-life persona on and off of the stage where he performed C&W music for the majority of his working career. He played with and opened for numerous big-name stars at Billy Bob’s, but started at his Father’s famous club, Deb’s Danceland, in Grand Prairie. Danny performed at many Metroplex venues in the ensuing years. He traveled and opened for Johnny Duncan with his band, Danny Wood and the Bosque River Band, for several years. Danny was a prolific song and music writer. He had a contract with RCA records which produced an album and some hit singles.

Danny’s voice and talent were captivating; his imitations of Elvis, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and countless others were incredible. It was always fun to watch him at his craft; Danny was an amazing entertainer!

His later years were spent at his property on the Bosque River in Texas with his beloved wife, Shelly. Danny loved to travel and was a self-proclaimed pluviophile, or storm-chaser, sometimes driving his camper into the middle of hurricanes. Danny enjoyed life and loved entertaining people; he was quite the comical character.

Danny is survived by his wife, Shelly, of 20 years and their blended family: his son Danny Wood, Jr.; his daughter, Laura Wood Blair and husband, Chase. Stepchildren: Brandon Mason and wife, Beth, and Samantha Mason and partner, Kyle Byington. Siblings: Terry Adair, Tony Wood, Debbie Regan, Cary Wood, Shelli Ryberg, Cody Wood (deceased); Sidney Davidson (deceased) and Brent Davidson. 8 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Danny’s funeral will be held at Moore Funeral Home; 1219 North Davis Dr; Arlington, Texas on February 4, 2025, at 2 pm.
