Della Millican-Halfmann, 84, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, in Burleson, Texas. Born on June 19, 1940, in Godley, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of Nola Bernice McCauley and Johnny Edwin Stewart.
Della grew up in Godley and later pursued her education in Fort Worth, preparing her for a career marked by dedication and professionalism. She began her career at Sargent Sowell in Grand Prairie, Texas, where she met Hugh Millican. The two married in 1965, and Hugh lovingly adopted her two sons from a previous marriage, Johnnie Clinton and Douglas Allen. Together, they built a warm and loving home on Sherwood Drive in Arlington, Texas where they lived with their beloved beagle, Mopsy. They later designed and built their dream home in North Arlington on Laughlin Court where they lived and raised their family until Hugh’s passing in September 1990.
In July 2000, she found love again and married Alton Edward Halfmann. They enjoyed spending time with family and took many memorable vacations together. The couple shared many happy years until Alton’s passing in 2017.
Della was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. A woman of deep faith and community spirit, Della was an active member of the Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does, where she held numerous leadership roles. She was also a gifted pianist, sharing her musical talents both in church and with the Does. She was a Cub Scout leader, and a seamstress who made many of her Does dresses as well as clothes for her boys.
Della will be remembered for her kindness, her meticulous nature, and her unwavering willingness to help others. Her warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Toby Stewart; and her eldest son, Clint Millican.
Della leaves behind her son, Douglas Millican, his wife Janice, and their sons Jason Kennedy and Austin Millican; her daughter-in-law Cheryl Millican and children, Chris Millican, his wife Amanda, and Melissa Millican.
Della’s legacy of love, strength, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
