Donna, born in 1954 in Talco, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024, at home in the arms of her devoted husband, Doug. Her life was a testament to love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
Donna’s early years were shaped by her deep bond with her father, JP, whose passing when she was just nine left an indelible mark on her life. As the much youngest of four siblings, Donna was raised as an only child in Dallas after moving there with her mother at age 12. She carried the memory of her father with her throughout her life and often spoke of him with fondness.
A devoted wife and mother, Donna treasured her family above all else. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Doug; her son, Joe his wife, Alona; sister-in-law, Nancy; as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and a million others. She was preceded in death by her parents JP & Orene; her brothers, Jere; Richard; and her sister, Barbara Smith. Donna’s happiest moments were spent at home surrounded by family and great friends.
Donna had a remarkable sense of humor and a passion for creativity. She found joy in scrapbooking, preserving precious memories through artistic projects. She traveled across the country for scrapbooking retreats and once even hosted a beginners’ class at the community center in Northwest Grand Prairie. Her love for genealogy fueled countless hours of research into her family’s roots, ensuring their stories would endure for generations.
Donna embraced life’s simple pleasures—gardening, crafting, board games, bowling, and time with her beloved pets, Oliver and Scooter. She found peace in quiet moments on her deck during rainy and stormy days, savoring the beauty of nature.
Donna’s warmth, humor, and zest for life touched everyone around her. Though deeply missed, may her memory bring comfort and inspiration to all who mourn her passing.
