

Doris Marie Hooker Lewis of Arlington, Texas, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother went home to be with the Lord on September 19, 2025 at the age of 99. Doris was born March 25, 1926 in the family home as one of Roy Lee and Goldie Hooker's five children. She was raised on their cotton farm in Hill County, Texas during the depression. She was married to Wendell Golden Lewis on January 3, 1944. She was known as Mamaw by her grandchildren. Doris was a homemaker, waiting to join the workforce once her three daughters, Sandra, Linda and Kathy were enrolled in school. She still maintained her home, cooked every meal and sewed clothes for herself and daughters while working full-time. She was responsible in seeing that her daughters were active in church and received Christ as their savior. Her family were members of Hillcrest Park Baptist Church and then Mayfield Road Baptist Church.
Doris worked in the banking field for 30 years; for Mutual Savings and Loan for twenty years and then worked for First City Savings for ten years as Vice-President until her retirement in 1988. She always had a smile on her face and a hello for everyone she met. After retiring, she and Wendell became RV'ers making many friends with Ramblin' Sam's RV club; traveling all 50 states.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell, married 63 years at the time of his death in 2007, and her first born daughter, Sandra Russell, deceased in 2019.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Linda Furgerson and Kathy Emerson; grandchildren Deon Tankersley (Vic), Shannon Russell (Jennifer), Michele Harmon (Shane), Cody Furgerson (Katly), Alicia Mueller, Shona Bumgardner (Barry). Great-grandchildren, Preston Flurkey, Laine, Wade and Maeve Harmon, Jacob Reno, Justin and Mateo Furgerson, Annie and James Mueller and Emma and Max Bumgardner. And great-great grandchildren Darian, Amaevia and Zelda Reno.

Doris will be laid to rest next to her husband, Wendell Golden Lewis, at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
