Dorothy Lee Whitworth Gant

Dorothy L. (Whitworth) Gant, 89, of Hurst, Texas passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Moore Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Gant, Mason Flores, Chaz Yanez, Joe Ulakovic, Jeremy Riddle and Jeff Behl. Visitation will be Friday, March 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Dorothy Lee Whitworth was born March 30, 1927 in Winnsboro, Wood County, Texas to Henry Jack Whitworth and Katie Elizabeth Cornelius Whitworth. She graduated from Winnsboro High School. She married James Norris Gant on June 30, 1946 in Hillsboro, Texas. Over the years, Dorothy worked in communications, sales, and administration for Southwestern Bell in Hillsboro, Myers Department Stores in Fort Worth, and Citizen Development Center in Dallas, and finally at North Pointe Baptist Church in Hurst.

Mrs. Gant was preceded in death by her husband June 19, 2011, a son, Alfred Eldred Gant, February 23, 2013 and her only sibling, a sister, Dolly Whitworth White.

Survivors include her children: David W. Gant, Donald R. Gant, Norresa L. Powell, grandchildren: Charlotte L. Ulakovic, Glenda J. Behl, Jason N. Gant, Katie E. Matthew, Lydia D. Riddle, seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
