

ARLINGTON -- Elizabeth Shelton, 98, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, surrounded by her loved ones. Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Monday at Moore Funeral Home. The service will be presided over by her cousin, the Rev. Charles Long. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Elizabeth was born April 28, 1912, in Arlington, the sixth of seven children born to Nannie Lynn Brownlee and David Henry Lester. She began grade school in the Watson community, where her family moved to farm. In 1928, Elizabeth married Henry Stockard Shelton of Denton County. They started their family, then returned to Watson in the late 1930s. They purchased an Arlington home in 1951. She spent her retirement enjoying friends and family, gardening, cooking and quilting. She was a member of West Fork Presbyterian and was a Rebekah. Lizzy, Momma, Grams, Grandmama and Greatmama, she lived a long, engaged life and her love and memory will be cherished always. Survivors: Children, Maxine Wheeler and husband, Ernest, and Ronnie Shelton and wife, Marie; grandchildren, Donna Wheeler, Sherrie Wheeler, Kenneth Shelton and Robert Shelton and wife, Toni; great-grandchildren, Cole, Avery and Courtney; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, lifelong friends and cherished neighbors.
