December 30, 1930 – October 2, 2025
Eugenia Moreno was born in Lorain, Ohio on December 30, 1930, to Higinio Torres and Victoria Godina. At just six months old, she moved with her family back to Mexico, where she spent her early childhood in the village of San Miguel in the state of Coahuila.
In 1941, the family relocated to Monterrey, Nuevo León. It was there, in 1947, that Eugenia met her future husband, Salvador Moreno, at a tailor shop where they both worked. They married on June 6, 1948, and in 1956, emigrated with their three young children to the United States. After a brief stay in San Antonio and a couple of years in Fort Worth, they settled in Arlington in the summer of 1959.
Within a year of moving to Arlington, Salvador purchased a tailor shop on Main Street. Once all of her children were in school, Eugenia joined him there as a seamstress and worked alongside him until her retirement in the mid-1990s.
Eugenia had a warm and generous spirit and made many friends over the years. She was a founding member of the International Friends and was actively involved in a close-knit social circle of ladies, participating in many of their gatherings and activities. She especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren and loved hosting family celebrations for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
In her mid-eighties, Eugenia began her battle with dementia, a journey that slowly took her away from the vibrant woman she once was. She passed away peacefully at home on October 2, 2025, due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease, surrounded by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Salvador and infant son, Salvador Jr.
Eugenia leaves behind her daughter Dora (Richard), sons Jaime, Mario (Mary Jane), and Javier; grandchildren Lisa, Matt, Monica, Marty, and Nick; and great-grandchildren Gracie, Vinny, JoJo, Lucas, Lucy, Leo, and Jacob. She is also survived by her sister Maria Luisa Almaguer, brothers-in-law Alfonso Moreno and Genaro Almaguer, and longtime faithful friends Fina and Maria.
Her legacy of love, strength, and family devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
