Tom was born in Dallas on March 25, 1952, to Fletcher and Inez Moore and grew up in Lancaster. He was a proud, fourth-generation Texan who loved the Lord and his family. He was best known for his kindness, generosity and making people laugh.
He was a registered nurse, a profession he chose after he saw the care provided to his father when he was ill. His 20-year career started at Baylor University Medical Center in critical care. He later found his niche in behavioral health.
He was a passionate sports fan. His favorite teams were his Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, Stars and Mavericks. Always soft-hearted, he loved the family pets.
Survivors: His wife of 36 years, Phyllis; daughters, Stacey Dickens and Kimberly Moore; siblings, Alta, Marla and Randy and brothers-in-law, Glenn, Donnie and Jim; son-in-law, Jonathan Dickens; grandson, Josiah Thomas Dickens; and nieces, nephews and cousins and their children.
