Born Gail Ann Carter, to T. Howard Carter & Cornelia Coonley Carter on August 6, 1943 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, Gail Carter grew up enjoying reading, family reunions with her cousins, church activities at Epworth United Methodist Church and school activities.
Lifelong friendships and connections were made during her years at Chickasha High School. After high school she attended Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma and eventually earned her Master’s in Elementary Education at Central State (OK) University.
She spent 20+ years as an elementary school educator in the Putnam City, Oklahoma and Mobile, Alabama school districts. She often shared colorful stories of her days working with and teaching small children.
Gail enthusiastically traveled to visit and maintain her decades long, childhood friendships throughout her life. She loved to travel, enjoyed trying new cuisines, learning of different cultures, keeping up with world events, brain games, sharing stories and doting on her grandchildren. For birthdays, Gail was known to spend hours shopping and picking out just the right item that would resonate and show her love to the birthday person. Her grandchildren always received brightly wrapped packages with personal gifts, beautiful clothes, books and toys.
Gail passed peacefully on August 25, 2021. Gail was preceded in death by her husband Jack Bryant.
Gail Ann is held close in love, prayers and memories by her surviving family including her sons Andrew & Ben Browning, stepdaughters Susan & Leslyn, daughter in laws Sarah & Ellen, dear cousin, “her sister” Linda Lewis, Grandchildren Amelia, Emory, Davis & Carter and her numerous cousins.
Gail’s family is planning an online/webinar celebration of her life and will send those details shortly to family and friends. An in-person Memorial of Gail’s life will be held with her family and close friends in the near future.
Gail had a love of dogs and cats and was always willing to help out with rescue efforts. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arlington Humane Society.
