

GEORGE WALLACE BRANCH: Died 19 March 2013 at the Waterford home in Arlington, Texas as a result of complications from COPD and congestive heart failure. George was the fifth of six children born to George and Georgia (Ledford) Branch. He was born on the family farm near Faxon, Oklahoma. He attended East Walnut School, graduating high school in 1942. He farmed until entry into the Army on 8 February 1943. George served in France, Germany, and the occupation of Japan. He was discharged in February 1946 and returned to farming in Oklahoma.
In September, 1946 he met and married Patricia Esther (Miller) Branch. They were married for 66 years until his death.
The family farmed cotton south of Calumet, Oklahoma until 1952, moving to Kansas to work in the oil fields of (Russell) Kansas, until he retired from the oil fields in 1985. In 1995 George and Pat returned to El Reno, Oklahoma where they were active in the Bible Baptist Church of El Reno, Oklahoma and caring for ailing family members. In 2006 they moved to Arlington, Texas where they were active in the Trinity Baptist Church of Arlington and supported various veteran’s organizations, usually the Vietnam Veterans of America, with donations of money, clothing and other items.
George was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, occasional member of the American Legion, a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Russell, Kansas and a member of AARP.
George is survived by his spouse, Patricia of Arlington; his son Calvin of Temple Texas; his daughter Patricia (Babe) Balloun and son-in-law Michael Balloun of Arlington, Texas. He had two Grand sons; Lucas James, and Jeremiah Balloun; and six great grandchildren; Bailey Anne Balloun, Tyler Stephen Balloun, and Joshua Shane Balloun.
Memorial service were held at Moore Funeral Home, Arlington, Texas at 12:30 Friday 22 March 2013. Placement will be at the Hazel Dell Cemetery, Minco, Oklahoma on Monday 25 March 2013.
