Guadalupe Gutierrez

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Guadalupe Soza Gutierrez who went to be with her Lord, Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the age of 79. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 am, Thursday, January 29, 2015 at St Matthew Catholic Church in Arlington with Msgr. Joseph Schumacher presiding. The family will receive friends for visitation and eulogy at Moore Funeral Home at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm.

Guadalupe Soza was born June 17, 1935 in Bastrop, Texas, the daughter of a coal miner. She grew up, attended school, and graduated from Bastrop High School. Guadalupe married Henry Gutierrez at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dallas on April 28, 1962. Guadalupe was the nucleus of her large family. She loved cooking, spending time with family and hosting big holiday events. She spent all her free time traveling and attending her grandchildren’s events and activities. She was employed from 1977 to 2002 as an office administrator with Dallas Independent School District.

Mrs. Gutierrez was preceded in death by her parents, Vidal and Candelaria Soza, her husband of 42 years, Henry, February 14, 2005 and by six siblings.

Guadalupe is survived by two daughters; Liza Gonzalez and her husband Charles of Mansfield, and Michelle Gutierrez and her husband Jose’ of Grand Prairie, two sons; Mark Gutierrez and his wife Maria of Mansfield and Stephen Gutierrez and his wife MaryAnn of Rendon, by one sister, Petra Merino and one brother, Felipe’ Martinez and by seven grandchildren; Brandon, Adrian, Jordan, Stephanie, Analisa, Stephen, and Anissa.
