Helen was born in Elgin to Henry and Emma Moore and was the youngest of eight siblings. She was valedictorian of her class at Elgin High School. After graduating from the University of Texas, she worked in the lab at the Magnolia Refinery in St. Louis, Mo., and Beaumont. It was at the refinery where she met the love of her life, Roy. "I'd watch her walking down the stairs on the way to my lab. That's how it all started," he says.
Married to Roy in 1947, Helen devoted the rest of her life to family and church. After moving to Arlington in 1955, she and Roy raised four children and enjoyed 10 grandchildren. She was a 52-year member of First United Methodist Church of Arlington. Her service included the Methodist Women's Club, cooking for the Rotary Club, and Story League.
Helen will be remembered for her Sunday lunches, love of family and devotion to Roy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings and her grandson.
