Ila Jean Moon

Ila Jean Moon, age 87, of Fort Worth, Texas passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. In Fort Worth, Texas surrounded by her family. She was born on Sunday October 10, 1937, She will always be remembered for the loving spirit and kindness she showed to everyone around her.

Jean was raised with her brother Butch Browning.

Later in life Jean met the love of her life and they were inseparable. They did everything together. She called him “Sonny” and he called her “Mooney”. They married young and moved to New Mexico to work with Haliburton. They returned to Walters, Oklahoma to help his mother and be close to his family. They tried several small businesses but ended up with her working at Haggard (pant manufactory) as a seamstress until her job were outsourced overseas. He worked at Fort Sill, Lawton, Oklahoma in base maintenance.

They enjoyed traveling. When Sonny retired, they bought a travel trailer (along with his brother L.D. and his wife Peggy buying the same setup). The four of them traveled around together in their two travel trailers. Durning this time they worked as “gate keeper” at various Core of Engineers Lakes in Texas and Oklahoma. At some point they when to Colorado during the summers to work at campground. The four remained tight until Sonny and Jean bought a house in Arlington, Texas to be close to their daughter Vickie and the grandchildren. Family was important, Jean and Sonny took the grand kids in the travel trailer to Branson, Missouri on multiple summer vacations. They came over almost every day. They took up square dancing and later ballroom dancing. When Sonny passed Jean continued the ballroom dancing.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Albert “Sonny” Lee Moon.

She is survived by her brother Butch Browning, Her two children Vickie Marslett, and Rodney Moon, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.

Jean will truly missed and held in the hearts of her family.
