James Ernest Isom, 74, was born November 26, 1943, in Lubbock, Texas, to Ernest and Ernestine Isom. James passed from this life October 17, 2018, in Fort Worth, Texas. James grew up in Shallowater, Texas, graduated from Shallowater High School in 1962, and attended Texas Tech University. He married his high school sweetheart Helen Marie Reed on June 3, 1965. In 1966 the couple moved to Arlington, Texas, and James began his 38-year-long career with Bell Helicopter, retiring in 2004. In 1972, their son Eric came into their lives, and in 1973 their daughter Jamie was born. An all-around-outdoorsman, James loved fishing, camping, golf, woodworking, mechanics, and above all else, family time. James was active in the Arlington community, and was a member of Woods Chapel Baptist Church and the Arlington Senior Men’s Golf Assn. James is survived by Helen, his wife of 54 years; his son Eric Isom and his wife Emily, and their children Peter and Violet, of Azle, Tx; daughter Jamie Hunt and her husband Andrew, and their children Bryce and Tanner, of Mansfield, Tx; brother Harold Isom, sister Annice Meeker, many nieces and nephews, and a lifetime of friends and family. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 pm on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N Davis Dr. Arlington, TX 76012. Services will be at 11:00 am Monday, October 22, 2018 with a short visitation beginning at 10:30 am at Woods Chapel Baptist Church, 2424 California Ln, Arlington, TX 76015. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mission: Dignity. Due to inclement weather conditions, interment will take place at Moore Memorial Gardens at a later date.
