You were my first class participant when I started teaching the early morning fitness classes at Arlington Memorial, and in almost 16 years of working out together, you rarely missed a class.  You were a true friend, a very generous and giving man, and you will be greatly missed. I thank you Jay for everything and for being there in my family's recent darkest days. RIP friend! Until we meet again.

I had the pleasure of doing business with Jay and his family over the past 15 years.  My primary memories of Jay will be of him stopping by our office and staying a while to tell us about his family.  He was so incredibly proud of them all.  I had the fortune of playing the occasional round of golf with him and having him out to our Christmas parties.  Jay was a very humble and honorable business man.  I always knew his word was his bond and that is so valuable these days.  We could use more people like Jay in the world today.  He will be missed.

Jay was my much older brother, and a man I hardly knew. We were born a generation apart, and our dear Daddy was too busy raising my brother Blair and me to be the kind of grandparent he could have been to Janice and Jay's children: Melanie, Brad, and Brian. But make no mistake, our dad loved his children and grandchildren very much. 

There were times when my stepmother had problems, and several times Blair and I stayed with Jay, Janice, and their family.  Even though we only saw them now and then, they were welcoming and kind at a time when we really needed a peaceful place. It was during one of these stays that I learned of Jay's involvement with young entrepreneurs.

My best memory of Jay is when we were preparing for Daddy's funeral. I was allowed to pick the casket, and then a suit was picked to go with the color of the casket. We couldn't find a tie to go with the tan suit. But then Jay walked up. Without a thought, he took off the tie he was wearing, and laid it on the suit. Decision made, we gathered up the clothes and Daddy was buried wearing the tie - a permanent connection to Jay.  It was a personal and touching moment that no one else saw, and was never mentioned again.  Jay will be missed and I hope that his children will carry the joy of having had him in their lives, as I have tried to carry forward the memory of our Daddy.

My cousin Jay, was really a good cousin, when we were young, my Mom always said we looked like twins.  
His brother David and Jay Dewey protected me once when their other brother Gary threw my shoe on our grandparent's roof in Pennsylvania, they went on the roof which was really high,  to retrieve my shoe.
  My two brothers Sam and Ken were older than me, so they actually had a lot more time with our three cousins than I did.
Jay I highly admired you, you were a sweet, person, good to others, and  you will be missed  here on Earth, and  I  look forward to the time when we will meet again in our Father's house.  Enjoy being with our grandparent's Dewey and Tula Hancock and my parents Ralph and Maxine Hancock and your parent's and  your brother David. 
 May  ALL of our  family  find comfort in knowing that Jay is in our Father's care now.

I am an Usher at Fielder Church and Jay was a kind and caring individual. We became good friends. We always talked about Baylor and he was so proud of his Grand Daughter. Jay will be missed!

He is preceded in death by: His Father, Admiral “Jack” Dewey Hancock, His Mother; Beatrice Waters-Hancock and his son, Brad Allen Hancock.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janice; Children , Melanie and Brian; Grandchildren Kirstin, Gracey, Gray and Gillian, brother Gary , Nephew Jeff and Niece Julie and Countless friends and business associates.
