The body that served him so well for 84 years was still strong, but it could not overcome the dementia, strokes or seizures of recent times. While the mind had become very confused and the memory very selective, near the end he was always happy and eager to get back to work.
Joe will be remembered for an array of great accomplishments in his life. Through this business savvy hard work and common sense approach, Swofford electric Supply has been successful for 48 years. his honest, ethical treatment of customers, vendors, manufacturers and employees served him well as it served us all well.
Joe was a loving, caring, compassionate husband, father, grandfather and friend. This became obvious as he became the full time caregiver for the love of his life Gay Swofford. Through her battles with cancer and Alzheimer's, his last years were totally devoted to her care, which he did with a full and loving heart.
Our family's wish is that Joe rest in peace and that we can continue the legacy he so brilliantly started. Dad will surely be missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family request's donations be made in the memory of:
