Dr. John Thomas Houston III

Funeral: Funeral will be on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 10:30 a.m., St Albans Episcopal Church, 911 S. Davis, Arlington, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Dr., Arlington, TX. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society at Cancer.org, 800-227-2345.

Tom Houston was born February 13, 1959 in Houston, TX to parents John and Jo Houston. Tom grew up in Arlington where he graduated from Arlington Lamar High School in 1977. He performed undergraduate work at University of Texas at Arlington and received a B.S. in Biology from Austin College, Sherman, TX. He graduated from the University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston in 1987. Tom owned and operated a successful dental practice in Mesquite, Texas for 21 years with a recent addition in Dallas. Tom's greatest pride and joy in his life was raising his two outstanding sons and spending time with them traveling to the Caribbean, hunting and fishing or playing video games. Tom was an avid reader and constantly challenged himself with new and ever higher goals. He exhibited this the most when he trained and successfully completed the White Rock Marathon in 1999. Tom was always eager to try to new things and experience new adventures.

Tom is preceded in death by his father, John T. Houston, Jr. and his sister Janice Houston Daniel.

Survivors: Tom is survived by his two precious sons, John Thomas Houston, IV, and Scott Kramer Houston, his mother Jo Houston, two sisters, Elise Donohoe and Johanna Houston as well as four nieces and a nephew. He also leaves behind a loving, dedicated dental staff, loyal patients and many, many devoted friends.
