John Larry Magness

Celebration of life: 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church, 910 S. Collins, Arlington.

Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis, Arlington.

Larry was born June 4, 1940, in Frankston to Joseph and Opal Magness. He graduated from DeSoto High School and earned a BA from Arlington State College and an MS from Texas Wesleyan. Larry was an educator in the Arlington ISD for 29 years. He enjoyed restoring photos, writing poetry, watching Westerns, traveling and particularly liked dressing up as historical figures for his students while teaching. Larry was a dedicated man who loved Jesus, his family and friends.

Survivors: Loving wife of 54 years, Nell; children, Phillip Magness (Kimberly) and Laura Copenhaver (Rodney); grandchildren, Kyle, Ashleigh and Kaleigh; and four brothers and sisters.
