

K. Michael Pierce, affectionately known as "Mike," passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on June 5, 1949, in Evansville, Indiana, to the late Doris Jane and Kenneth Ray Pierce, Mike lived a life of service, love, and unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his community.
Mike “Hawkeye” proudly served two tours in the Vietnam War with the 229TH AHB GS AVN Plt. demonstrating exceptional courage and commitment to his fellow soldiers and his nation. His service earned him numerous honors, including a Bronze Star, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Aircraft Crewman Badge, and a Good Conduct Medal.
After returning home, Mike pursued his passion for aviation, graduating from Purdue University with an Associate’s Degree in Aviation Maintenance. During his time at Purdue, he was a proud member of the Theta Chi Fraternity, where he formed lifelong friendships and memories.
Mike’s greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of many years, Retha Pierce, who stood by his side through life’s many adventures. Together, they built a legacy of love and family. Mike is survived by his three children: his son Travis and wife Katy of Granbury, Tx and his grandsons Tatum and Lane. His son Cameron and wife Linley of Arlington, TX and his grandson Abner, and his daughter Katelyn and husband Chad Self of Midlothian and his grandsons Boyd, Coleman, Decker and Holt .
He is also survived by his sister Jane Ann and her husband Mark Greenwood of Granville, Ohio, and their daughters Lara and Marci, who held a special place in his heart. He also leaves behind his nieces Shannon Russell and Angela Stephens, and nephew Chase Stephens.
Mike was known for bringing fun and laughter to any occasion with his many pranks, earning a reputation as the life of the party. Whether it was a cleverly planned practical joke or a witty remark, Mike’s sense of humor brightened every room he entered and left countless cherished memories with those lucky enough to know him.
Mike’s love for his country, family, and faith will forever be remembered by those who knew him. He was a man of integrity, strength, and unwavering kindness, whose impact will be felt for generations.
Mike’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and honor. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Visitation: 6pm - 8pm, Monday, February 10, 2025 at Moore Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life: 11am Tuesday, February 11, 2025 in the South Chapel, at Moore Funeral Home, followed by a committal service with U.S. Army Honors: 2:15pm at Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Fund, in honor of his life and service.
