Kerry was from a Large Family where we were taught how to share & care for everyone. He was always the one who showed up first for his family when there was a crisis. He enjoyed deer hunting in Brownwood, Tx, fly fishing around Durango, Colorado as well as driving mom, dad & Trishie annually on trips to Albuquerque in October for the Balloon Festival and a much awaited mini family reunion at Aunt Noma & Uncle Wayne’s mountain top compound where everyone had a Birds Eye view of the balloons as they ascended to the clouds. Kerry enjoyed and took much pride in working for days in his yard attending to the fish pond, the many outdoor potted plants as well as normal yard maintenance.
He really enjoyed playing his flight simulator for hours and video games that challenged him. He made multiple trips a year traveling to Odessa, Tx to visit family & friends. Kerry worked for Ogden Aviation Services from 1984 retiring in 2021. Supplying services alternately between both airports starting at Love Field and later transferring to DFW. He worked in fuel maintenance maintaining all fueling equipment and pumps to include maintenance and measurement of aircraft fuel and supplies.
Kerry had a heart bigger than Texas! He gave his first home to our parents as rental property and he moved to Odessa for a couple of years. Mom and Dad learned quickly owning rental property was not a life for them and sold the home. When Kerry moved back to Arlington he moved back into the family home and he was readily available to meet any needs the family had. He purchased a duplex that he rented one side and our brother Eddie lived on the other. In our parents later years he sold the duplex and paid the family home off on Redbud and took care of them after their retirement in 1993. Several years prior to my parents passing they deeded the family home to Kerry in appreciation for his devotion and care of them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Bennye Hein and sister in law Ann Hein.
He is survived by his siblings: Gary Hein of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Larry Hein of Fort Worth, Texas; Eddie Hein of Arlington, Texas; Steve and Sheila Hein of San Antonio, Texas; Trish and Marvin Fanning of Point, Texas; and Melinda and Carl Briley of Odessa, Texas. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle, Norma Lee and Wayne Sauter of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Mickey and Linda McFarland of Fort Smith, Arkansas, along with eight nieces, eight nephews, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Kerry’s life was one of quiet strength, generosity, and unwavering dedication to family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
