Ray was born on October 2, 1924 in Bronte, Texas to Leonard Cyle and Ida Paralee Rogers. He was one of four sons. Ray was a Navy veteran of World War II and served on the USS Tripoli aircraft carrier. During his time in the service, he was fortunate to meet the famous Helen Keller while in a Naval hospital.

He was known by close friends, neighbors, and family for his special touch in preparing outdoor barbequed, smoked, and grilled foods. He was also a builder, expanding onto and remodeling their home. He had work ethics and an attitude for excellence and taught his children to be their best at what they do.
Ray was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and always willing to help his neighbors. In his later years, Ray was a sponsor for Angel Ministries, helping young men build life skills and encouraging them for a promising future. He was fondly referred to as “Papa Bear” by the young people he helped. Ray will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
