

Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Fort Worth. Followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. in Moore Memorial Gardens.
Lewis Emmett McLendon Jr. was born Nov. 16, 1925, in Fort Worth to Martha Louise Collins Lambert and Lewis Emmett McLendon. He graduated from Pascal High School in Fort Worth and became an Eagle Scout. He was a scout master and earned the Lamb Award from the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Fort Worth. He was a World War II veteran from the Army Air Corps 15th Bomber Squadron flying B-17's and B-24's.
He married Dorothy Joan Brands in Spencer, S.D., on Sept. 7, 1947. He was a devout Christian and an active member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Fort Worth where they raised their three children, Mary E. Lynn, Randall and David.
In addition to his 37 years with the U.S. Postal Service, he was skilled in painting, auto bodywork, welding and upholstery. His interests included aviation, camping, fishing, gardening and traveling. They moved in Burleson and became active members of Grace Lutheran Church in Fort Worth. Recently to be closer to family, they moved to San Marcos. His six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, family and friends will miss his gentle nature, clever sense of humor, and handy craftsmanship.
