

Loren was born in Eldora, Iowa, on December 15, 1938 to Linus and Myrtle Doughty. He was raised on a farm in Grundy County before later moving to Eldora. He graduated from Eldora High School in 1957, and then went to the University of Iowa where he graduated in 1961. Loren then served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant until 1964. He joined Bell Helicopter Textron in 1967 where he worked as the Chief of Flight Training and the Director of Customer Training Academy until his retirement in 2001. He was well respected in the aviation industry and won several awards over the years.
Loren met his wife Dorothy in 1962 and they married in 1967. They raised their three children in Arlington, TX. He enjoyed spending time boating on Possum Kingdom Lake and laying by his pool. He spent many hours playing the piano and singing, and he loved playing with his Westies. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy; his son Greg and wife Jamie Doughty of Mineral Wells, TX; daughter Dr. Patricia and husband Dr. Douglas Macha of Tyler, TX; and daughter Jennifer and husband Robert Ramirez of Lantana, TX; his grandchildren Kayla, Kristin, Ethan, Sydney, Sophie, and Olivia; and his great grandchildren Michael, Avery, Jason, Brayden, and Landon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Leon Doughty.
The family would like to thank the Trauma and ICU staff at Medical City Denton for their amazing care of Loren.
Rest in peace to a kind and loving husband, father, grandpa, and friend. He was an exceptional man and will be dearly missed.
