

Maria D. Reyes, age 78, passed away on January 12, 2026 in Grand Prairie, Texas. She was born December 28, 1947 in Porvenir, Mexico to Juan and Josefina Diaz. Maria was raised in San Miguel, New Mexico and attended/graduated from Gadsden High School in 1966. She married Frankie O. Reyes in 1971 and the couple had 3 children. In her spare time Maria enjoyed moments that brought her family together. She loved gardening and spending time with her three children, taking pride in watching her family grow. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and cherished every moment she shared with them.
Maria enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with her entire family, creating lasting memories in the kitchen. She also found pleasure in watching her favorite shows and movies, working on crossword puzzles, looking up recipes on her iPad, cheering on the San Antonio Spurs, and eating her Whataburger. Above all, Maria treasured time with her family, filling her days with love, laughter, and togetherness.
Her family and friends will always remember her as a true fighter with a nurturing and caring heart. She was the foundation of the family, a devoted and loving presence who always kept the peace and treated everyone with fairness and honesty. Known as a wonderful cook, she also lovingly took on the role of “nurse” whenever someone was sick, offering comfort and care without hesitation. She was the best mother-in law, a compassionate listener with an unmatched sense of humor, and someone whose warmth, strength, and love touched everyone who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents Juan and Josefina Diaz, brothers Felix Diaz and Manuel Diaz, sisters Antonia Diaz and Mary Lara, her nephews Bobby Lara and Johnny Gallegos.
Survived by: her husband Frankie O. Reyes, children Sandra Reyes Mendoza, Angie Reyes Olvera, Frankie Reyes Jr. Her grandchildren Lewis Angel Mendoza, Daniel Olvera Jr., Brianna (Mamacita) Olvera. Her sons-in-law Marcelo Mendoza Jr. and Daniel Olvera Sr. Her brother Lupe Diaz and sister Gloria Gallegos. As well as several nieces and nephews.
