On Friday, April 1, 2022, Mary Frances Wrobel, age 74, unexpectedly passed away from a stroke after successful back surgery in Arlington, TX. Her family and friends were expecting her to come home before the weekend, as she was strong and eager to be back with those she loved. She is survived by her beloved husband and best friend of almost 25 years, John F. Wrobel.
Mary Frances Lowe was born on August 17, 1947, in Atoka, OK, and attended Poteau Jr. College.
She was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Lois “Jimmie” Alexander Lowe, and is survived by her dear brothers, William “Bill” (Donna) Lowe of Atoka, OK and Kenneth (Cindy) Lowe of Garnett, KS.
She is also survived by her children Ann (Mark) Farling of Malakoff, TX, and Michael (Nicole) Callahan of Shawnee, KS. Her grandchildren are Victor, Jennifer, Brooklyn, and Riley. Loving time with her great-grandchildren; Ian, and the twins, Mattie, and Mason. John’s children will also miss her: Ann, John (Leslie) and Julie (Ed), her step-grandchildren: Jason, Sr. Mary John, Kevin, John, Ethan, Michael, Brittanie, and step great-grandchildren: Jack, Valentina, Evelyn, Coltan, and Sadie.
Mary had special memories through the years with her cousins. They called themselves ‘Sisters’ - Rita, Joanne, Susan, Kathy, Zoe Ann, Pat, and Martha Lou. She also shared wonderful times with her cousin John.
Mary Frances adored her little 12-year-old dog, Miss B, who was named for her Big Ears.
Mary loved people and addressed many of them as “Honey” or “Darlin”, giving them a big verbal hug. She gave real hugs too—lots of them. Her smile warmed a room. She enjoyed shopping, reading, playing cards and bunco with her friends, laughing, and making those around her feel good. She was an active member of Arlington Area Newcomers & Neighbors Club where she had held several positions and was currently serving as 3rd V.P. of Membership. She was a natural at welcoming new and potential members and voiced her enthusiasm freely. Mary Frances was also leading the nominating committee where she approached reluctant volunteers with a can-do attitude. She was kind, generous, fun-loving and a loving lady who would do anything for her family and friends, and they already miss her terribly.
Before retirement, she worked for more than 15 years for Thermafoam in Hillsboro, TX as an Inside Sales Representative. She had many long-lasting friendships during her time there. In fact, the most lasting friendship she made was with her future husband, John, where he met her as a customer. They married on August 2,1997 and enjoyed many sailing and travel adventures.
Mary loved dragon flies after watching the movie Dragonfly. Her favorite color was purple, and she wore it well. Her wardrobe was enhanced with coordinated sparkly jewelry. Her day was not complete without watching her favorite soap opera, ‘General Hospital’. She was also an avid OU fan, Boomer Sooner!
Her step-granddaughter, Sr. Mary John, recalled to her fellow sisters many happy memories of Mary Frances over the years, particularly the support she received when she decided to become a cloistered nun. The sisters wrote that Mary’s love will bloom forever in her granddaughter’s life.
Mary Frances has left her family and many friends with warm memories and lingering love.
