Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Friday at Moore Funeral Home. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Moore Funeral Home.
Melvin was born May 28, 1926, to Robert K. Hathaway and Maggie Brannum in Pilot Point. He married Mary Reed in 1949 and had two sons to this union, Ronnie and Greg. Melvin worked for and retired from General Motors in Arlington. He always had a big vegetable garden and shared it with neighbors, friends and family. He loved to fish although he didn't like to eat them.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; son, Greg; grandsons, Michael and Scott; and his sister, Noreen.
Left to remember him are his son, Ronnie and wife, Linda; daughter-in-law, Laura; granddaughters, Krisha and Amy; his grandsons, Ryan, Jason, Steven and Eric; great-grandchildren, Sage, Tyler, Cody, Riley, Tori and Jacob; his brother, Robert; and sister, Marie.
