Michael was born on June 26, 1953, to Milford and Delores Scott in Mankato, MN.
After school, Michael dedicated his life to carpentry, repairing vehicles, fishing, and collecting Hot Wheels. He loved working with his hands throughout his life. Michael had a passion and a remarkable ability to fix any vehicle. At this time, he met and fell in love with Cheryl Patricia Burns at the same home they lived in until their passing. They were married in 1973 and were with each other through life's ups and downs.
Michael and Cheryl would go on to have one child, Gary D. Scott. Michael was a wonderful, devoted father, husband, and teacher. Michael always taught us to be honest, work hard, and never settle. Michael supported his family throughout the many accomplishments and difficulties of our lives. When Michael was not working, he could be found under the hood of many cars and trucks or on many of Texas's waterways trying to top his record of two thirteen-pound bass.
Michael was preceded in death by the love of his life, Cheryl P. Scott, his father, Milford Scott, and his brothers-in-law Calvin Patten Jr. & Butch McCurdy.
He is survived by his son Gary and his wife Missy Scott of Leesville, LA; his mother Delores Scott of Arlington, Sister Deborah Scott-McCurdy; Nephews Calvin (wife Jeannette Jones) Patten III and John Burns of Arlington; and his niece Nanette and Steve Hoadley of Hilton Head, SC; three grandsons and eight great-grandchildren.
The family requests that, in place of donations, you support your local cancer, heart, and kidney research charities of your family's preference. The family has set aside February 16, 2024, for those who wish to pay their respects at Michael's residence. There will be no formal services per Michael's request.
