Miguel Angel Figueroa II, was a wise, witty, caring, strong, and loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, brother and friend. The oldest son of Miguel A. Figueroa and Carmen M. Ramos, originally from Bayamon, Puerto Rico, la “Isla del Encanto”, he excelled academically and basically anything he set his mind on to achieve or do. He moved to Texas in his early 20s, but always carried his culture with him. He had a love for music, whether it was dancing, playing the guitar, the piano, congas/bongos, drums, guiro, and so much more. He had an ear for music and all of his loved ones have many fond memories revolving around that shared love of music. He was an athlete, basketball, softfall, baseball, racquetball, and even rode a few dirt bikes in his time. Best third baseman, caught line drives and when told he was the best, he said, “It takes practice. It’s not just natural, everything takes practice, and hard work.” That mindset, and those lessons he shared with those who were blessed to have gotten to spend time with him. He left many nuggets of wisdom, including “Respect to be respected”, “If you have to lie, if you have to hide, it’s not right. Don’t do it.”, and “Life aint’ so bad, if you’re not so bad in life.” He had an adventurous spirit and a strong sense of justice. He spoke about the fact that there is a balance in life, and that you should always strive to do what’s right and he wasn’t afraid to speak up about injustices he saw. He passed away on December 5, 2020, at the age of 65 surrounded by loved ones and having been loved by all of his family, and close family friends who will all continue to honor his legacy, memory and life lessons.
A graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on December 16, 2020 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in honor of his military service.
