Nelta Faye (Faye) Brundrett, 89, of Granbury, Texas, passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 with her loving family by her side. According to her wishes, she will be cremated and a memorial service for family and friends will be held February 6, 2021 at Moore Funeral Chapel in Arlington, Texas.
Faye was born December 13, 1930 in Willow, Oklahoma, to George and Floy (nee’ Hill) Mangum. She was the youngest child of four and the only girl; hence the nickname “Baby Girl” was affectionately bestowed upon her. She spent most of her early life in Poteet, Texas, and graduated from Poteet High School in 1948. Faye met her future husband, Weldon Brundrett, on a blind date and decided he was a “keeper” because he was such a good dancer! Weldon was smitten with his “little gal” and the two married on September 16, 1951, at his parents’ house in Skidmore, Texas. Thus began a long and happy union spanning several decades. The wedding almost didn’t happen, as Weldon was in the military and was a few days late for the original wedding date!
After their marriage, they set up house in Honolulu, Hawaii, where Weldon was stationed in the Air Force. Through the years, his career in the service and later in sales took them to many locations including San Antonio, Houston, and Grand Prairie, Texas, as well as Slidell and Metairie, Louisiana.
Faye loved to open her home and entertain; she enjoyed having parties and gatherings and was an amazing hostess! While living in the New Orleans area during their time in Louisiana, she served as a tremendous business asset to Weldon by hosting meetings and providing information to his clients while also entertaining their wives. She loved taking care of others’ needs and ensuring that everyone had a good time.
When the couple moved to Grand Prairie, Texas, Faye began selling Avon as a way to make new friends in her new community. She also joined Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. After Weldon retired, the energetic twosome enjoyed twirling around the dancefloor as many nights as possible at the local VFW halls. Faye also loved traveling and was always up for a game of 42 dominoes. Through the years, she cultivated many wonderful friendships and considered most of those friends to be family.
Faye was predeceased by her parents, and brothers George and Dow. She is survived by her brother Kenneth Mangum of North Hollywood, California, as well as her devoted husband of 69 years, Weldon Brundrett of Glen Rose, Texas. Also left behind to cherish her memory are son, Stephen (Joanne) Brundrett of Woodworth, Louisiana, and daughter Terry (Drew) Davis of Glen Rose, Texas. Faye was an amazing wife and Mama but considered being Nana to 4 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren her greatest role! Celebrating her legacy are granddaughters Katie (Bob) Kuckert of Frisco, Texas (Addie and Ezra), Sara (Brandon) King of Wolfforth, Texas (Kendall and Piper), and grandsons Matthew (Shana) Brundrett of Woodworth, Louisiana (Grace, Andrew, Lucy, Emma and Mary Frances), and Jacob (Lauren) Davis of Katy, Texas (Theo and Lena). The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Quail Park in Granbury, Texas, and Envoy Hospice for their compassionate care, loving support, and genuine kindness throughout this difficult time.
If desired, donations may be made to Envoy Hospice of Fort Worth, Texas.
