

Paul Andrew Wilbur, died in Ft. Worth, TX on July 29th, 2022. Services will be held at Moore Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, Arlington, TX, in early October (date forthcoming). He was born on December 4th, 1938, at Ft. Sam Houston, TX.
He is survived by wife Karen Harding, son Brett Matthew Wilbur, sister Sharon Faye Wilbur, step-granddaughters Melody Danielle Passwater and Larkin McKinsie Passwater. He was preceded in death by his son Paul Andrew Wilbur, Jr., stepdaughter Vivian Lanelle Cowley, parents Walter and Ethel Wilbur, and his two brothers, Franklin Wilbur, and Philip Wilbur. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels or to SPCA International.
Paul graduated from Arlington High School in Arlington, TX in 1957. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in January 1962, and a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in June 1968, both from the University of Texas in Austin. Hook-em Horns! He also graduated from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in June 1972, and the U.S. Army War College in June 1981.
Upon college graduation in 1962, Paul entered the Army as a Second Lieutenant with an ROTC commission as a Distinguished Military Graduate. He served in a variety of significant positions involving increasing technical and managerial responsibility complemented by progressive education at DoD and civilian schools.
He served with distinction in the tactical Army with successful command at company, battalion, and division support command levels at every grade, from Lieutenant to Colonel, at various locations in the U.S. and overseas (including Vietnam, South Korea, and Germany).
Additional highlights of his 26 years with the Army included Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, Director of Materiel Management at the Aviation Systems Command, Director for Supply at Anniston Army Depot, Logistics Operations Research Analyst in the Army Chief’s of Staff Office in the Pentagon, before retiring in 1988 as a Colonel while commanding the U.S. Army Ordnance Missile and Munitions Center and School, Redstone Arsenal, AL.
He was an inductee into the ROTC Hall of Honor at the University of Texas at Arlington, TX. Multiple military awards included the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal, U.S. Army Master Parachutist badge, Vietnamese, and Canadian parachute badges.
Following retirement from the Army in 1988, he worked for 21 years as a contract engineer and analyst to the U.S. Government. Highlights included managing test planning and analysis and computer resource support for the Ground-based Missile Defense (GMD) Program and performing reliability engineering on the International Space Station for NASA.
He will be missed by his family and friends.
