Perry received his bachelor of science from Southeastern State College in Durant, Okla. Then he went on to receive his master's from East Texas College in Commerce. Perry taught industrial arts for 28 years. Perry served in World War II as part of the U.S. Army for three years. He was one of the first special service forces in the U.S. Army. He was married to Cordelia Lavern Newport for almost 67 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church since the 1950s. He loved his church and Sunday school class.
Survivors: Perry is survived by his wife, Cordelia Lavern Newport; sons, Wayne Newport and wife, Stephanie, and Wade Newport; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-laws; nieces; nephews; and a host of loving friends.
