Phyllis Jean Guess

Phyllis Jean Guess passed on Thursday, April 9, 2026. She was 77. Phyllis was born on February 27, 1949 in Enid, Oklahoma to Jean and Joy Brown. She was the second born of four children. Phyllis graduated from Slidell High School in Slidell, Louisiana. She moved to Arlington soon after, where she became a member of Pantego Bible Church. While there, she met Roger Guess, her future husband.

Phyllis proudly worked for a gastroenterologist for over thirty years, where she participated in the continued growth and changes the clinic experienced over time. She retired in 2021, where she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

She married Roger in 1977, and they remained married until his passing in 2021. Together, they had two children. Brian, their son, was born in 1980, and Shelley, their daughter, was born in 1983.

Phyllis was a loving mother, wife, and friend, and she was committed to her Christian faith. She enjoyed reading, attending Bible studies, cruising, window shopping with Shelley, and chatting over a caramel macchiato (extra hot).

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, and brother Steven. Survivors include daughter Shelley, son Brian, brothers Stuart and Joy Jr., brother-in-law Leslie, and sister-in-law Carolyn.
