
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 1st at Lavon Drive Baptist Church located at 1520 Lavon Dr. in Garland, TX.
He was born in Olden, Texas on March 22, 1935, to Therman Landreth and Kate Landreth.
Richard graduated from Abilene High School. After graduating from high school, he was offered a partial scholarship to Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX, but declined due to other interests. For one year, 1961-1962, he attended the Bible Baptist Seminary, now Arlington Baptist College.
He was married to Norma Merworth Landreth for 40 years. Richard had a career in the HVAC industry for American Air Conditioning & Citywide Mechanical primarily. He spent most of his life working for mechanical contractors. He started out as a sheet metal worker, then shop foreman, draftsman, estimator, salesman and was a project manager until he retired. He was a member of the International Top Spinning Association. Richard was an expert top spinner and was a regular entertainer at Six Flags Over Texas in the summer of 1962. He enjoyed spreading the Word and telling stories about his life and the people in it.
He received an Honorable Discharge from the Texas National Guard and the United States Army.
Richard was preceded in death by his daughter Karin Milks; wife Norma Landreth; parents Therman and Kate Landreth; and sister, Peggy Ivie.
Left behind to cherish Richard’s memory and spread his stories are his daughter Kim Huskey (Fort Worth, TX); granddaughter Sarah Milks (Plano, TX); brother Tommy Landreth and wife Margaret (Tomball, TX); 2 nieces and 5 nephews; and former spouse Yvonne Donaldson.
He will be greatly missed.
