Russell David Greenwood .. what a legend. Everyone that has ever known him loved him, he touched so many lives and will be remembered and missed for eternity. He always said he would rather be dead in Texas than alive in England and he got his wish but unfortunately way too soon.
Russ was born and raised in Durban South Africa March 28th 1959 and has very fond memories of his family, brothers Robin and partner Simon and Steven, sister in law Lynette, cousins Wayne and Dawn, Nola and Lana, Aunty Arl and Aunty Marge and friends, "the group" as he would call them.
He then moved over to England with mom and I and started a new chapter of his life. His family grew when he married mom in January 85 to then have 3 more brothers and sisters Chris & Karin, Richard and Anita and Robert and Donna and many nieces and nephews, Kevin and Trevor, Georgia, Rosie, Thomas and Holly and their children Chloe, Jessica and Miles Also his family at BCR, especially Lesley, Stuart, Chris and Angie and his extended American family Johnnie, Rick, Nancy, Bri, Justin, lyla and the list goes on ...
What was important to Russ .. well that's easy it was his family. He worshipped the ground mom walked on and they were inseparable. Me well that's a whole other story he was my rock, we spoke a hundred times a day and he had all the time in the world for me and my crazy stories. He loved Shay, Blake and Paisley more than anyone could ever know. He told his work colleagues that his profession in Texas was a retired granddad by the name of Grumpy and he did that so well.
I sat down to write this and thought I need to speak to Russell about what to write and I'm sure it would of gone something like this "yaa boo and sucks to you"
We all knew he had heart problems and he was actually scheduled in for a stent June 22nd to help him but unfortunately that was too late. We are scheduled to go to the beach next month and he was so excited to get a bucket and spade and build sandcastles with the kids so that is what we will do. We will take him with us and scatter his ashes at the beach in the sea so the kids will know that he is with us wherever theres water.
As he said everyday its going to be another hot day in Texas so as long as the sun is in the sky we will always remember him, gone but never forgotten
Arrangements under the direction of Moore Funeral Home, Arlington, TX.
