Steve proudly served his county in the US Navy from 1953 to 1957 with a duty assignment in Radsta Skaggs Island and received the National Defense and Good Conduct Commendations.
Steve is survived by his wife, Elva Jean Oakes; 3 sons, Stephen Tyler Oakes III and his wife Donna Oakes, Roger Brent Oakes and wife Laurie Oakes and Richard Dean Oakes and his wife Misty Oakes; daughter Michelle Renee Oakes Hailey and husband James Hailey; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; other family and many friends, all who will miss him deeply.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Monday, May 21, 2018 at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N Davis, Arlington, TX 76011. Graveside services will be held at 11:15 am, Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX.
