Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please send all donations to First United Methodist Church or to Mission Arlington in Syble's name.
Syble was born July 11, 1919, in Mount Vernon. She was one of 10 children born to Archie and Betty Newsom.
She graduated from East Texas State College and began her 34-year teaching career at the age of 19. Most of those years were spent in Arlington at West Side and Swift Elementary schools.
In the intervening years since her retirement from teaching, she never failed to recognize her former students and recall their names.
Syble was married to Bill Stanford and they had two daughters, Beverly and Carole. After Bill passed away in 1971, Syble married Dwight Miller in 1973 and gained two more daughters, Sandy and Lynn. Syble and Dwight were married for 26 years until his passing in 1999.
Syble and Dwight enjoyed traveling and were very active in Rotary International for many years. Both were named Paul Harris Fellows.
Syble was a founding member of the Athenians and for many years was active in the Arlington Woman's Club. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church for over 50 years.
Syble had great love for her family and friends, gardening and reading. She was known for her sharp wit, her laugh and her red hair.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at the Plaza at Mansfield for their love and care during her last months.
Survivors: Daughters, Beverly Frank (John), Carole Owens (Andy), Lynn Goodman (John) and Sandy Page; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. Syble is also survived by sisters, Dorothy Peugh and Nell King, and many other extended family members.
