Timothy Patrick McGee, was born November 7th, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas to Francis Joseph and Dorothy McGee. Tim was the youngest of two older siblings Kathy Campbell and Mike McGee. Tim's passions were instant and pervasive throughout his life; family, baseball, AFISCO, and of course music.
In 1977, with a determined and enthusiastic vision, Tim started Arlington Fastener and Industrial Supply Company (AFISCO) with just one small loan. Tim dedicated his life fostering a company that supported his employees to create not only a multi-million dollar business, but one that was considered family. Tim was a visionary who put his customers and employees first, and himself very last. His professional endeavor touched hundreds of lives and businesses in the greater Dallas/Fort Worth area. His legacy now lives on through his sons, Anand and Evan McGee.
If you knew Tim at all, even for a brief moment, it's fair to assume that there's either a music or baseball memory tied to his remembrance. A fan since 1972, Tim has been to hundreds of Rangers games in all three of their home stadiums yelling just as loud from the first game he attended to the last. His love of baseball permeated beyond the Major Leagues; playing as a young kid to coaching little league teams for Shaleena, Anand, and Evan. It was serendipitous to watch the Rangers win the World Series in the midst of Tim's cancer journey; it was one of his life's wishes. The outreach of friends and loved ones upon this win was an overwhelming display of how Tim was a well known megafan.
Music was Tim's great love and adoration. His vinyl collection exceeds over 500 records. His headcount for being told to "Turn it down!!!" is also over 500, most notably yelled by his wife, children and all his grandchildren. None of us ever learned however, that "turn it down" was "turn it up" to Tim and he would do so with his iconic, mischievous smile followed by his talented air guitar show. Tim was a concert goer throughout his life; one of his favorite stories being front row at a Rolling Stones show in Dallas back in his 30's. Tim's music taste was eclectic; he loved many genres from Rock and Roll to Folk, to Blues... he has a Spotify library with a custom playlist from every year starting in 1960 through 2022. Tim spoke through music sharing songs up until his death. Some call him the "Music Man."
Tim's greatest and most passionate love of his life is his wife, Rekha. A unique pairing from the start but an undeniable, life lasting love to the end. Tim and Rekha wed in 1982, happily married for 42 years. In addition to Jennifer and Jessica, Tim and Rekha raised three children together, Shaleena, Anand, and Evan. Family togetherness and events were Tim's joy as he loved having his family all in one place, listening to loud music and having food on the grill. He took his family on many, wonderful vacations; most frequently road trips to San Diego, Durango and Red River. Tim and Rekha truly had a cinematic love and life together. They loved to travel, play golf, enjoy wine, their children, grandchildren and their second home in Hot Springs Village.
On July 5th, 2023, Tim, with his entire family present at the hospital, was diagnosed with a grade 4 Glioblastoma. A terminal cancer and devastating diagnosis. Tim quickly went to San Francisco to undergo a grueling surgery and returned home to fight as hard as he could against such a tragic disease for the next year. His last 16 months were riddled with setbacks and struggles however, he remained positive, optimistic; our superman. Tim's disease journey came to a close on July 1st, 2024, where he entered into his last month of life comfortably at home. He passed peacefully on August 12th, 2024, with his wife and children around him, remarkably the same passing date as his sister Kathy.
Timothy is survived by his wife Rekha; his five children Jennifer, Jessica, Shaleena, Anand, and Evan; his 6 grandchildren, Myah, Jillian, Levi, Emma, Jaynie and Ravi and his faithful dog Sami. Timothy P. McGee is a joy and legend to be remembered.
