Wanda Joy Davis

Service: 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Moore Funeral Home. Mark Carr of Arlington Community Church will officiate. Interment: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by a reception at her home. Visitation: The family will received guests 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis, Arlington.

Wanda was born Nov. 6, 1932, in Denton County, the daughter of late Henry K. and Effie L. Shackelford. In 1954, she married James Burke Davis.

She was a successful business owner for 30 years of Davis Day Care Centers Inc. of Arlington. She was a Christian woman who supported many charities. She traveled with her husband and family all over the world making friends everywhere. She was a big supporter of the arts and theater. She was a strong and fearless woman who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 1991; and sons, James Burke Davis, Jr in 1955 and James Burke Davis in 1976.

Survivors: Daughters, Lavina Gay Davis and Diana Marie Davis of Arlington; niece, Gail Bradshaw; nephews, Danny and Mickey Shackelford; grandchildren, John Speece, Katrina Watkins, Gizelle Butler, Ariana Ward and Sean Davis; great-grandchildren, Keila Speece, Allistair Watkins, Skyler Speece, Kiona Speece, Cheyenne Davis, Cayge Speece, Rhett Butler and Lucian Butler; and three great-great-grandchildren.
