

Funeral: 9 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Arlington, with interment in Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Moore Funeral Home.

Wanda was born Dec. 16, 1924, in Commerce to Leonora Polk and Otis Lee Longshore. In high school Wanda participated in Interscholastic League activities, including declamation and drama. She was editor of the school paper and was a cheerleader for two years. She went to East Texas State University in Commerce.
Wanda married Robert D. Osburn in 1944, a few days after Bob had received his commission as second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. They had two children, Robert Donald Jr. and Leonora Jean.
After World War II, they made their home in Arlington where Wanda joined the secretarial staff of First Baptist Church. She was education secretary to Mr. Bob Fuston and Dr. Dan McGee and when Dr. McGee went to Broadway Baptist Church, Fort Worth, Wanda went with him as educational secretary. After a year she returned to First Baptist Church Arlington and was executive secretary to Pastors Dr. H.E. East and Dr. Charles Wade.
Among the many duties in the 33 years she was on staff, Wanda was editor of the weekly church paper and served as church clerk. She taught Sunday school classes in the youth and adult divisions, and with Bob, was director in Youth Training Union. Wanda was active in the Women's Missionary Union and served as drector of Junior Girls' Auxiliary.
She was interested in civic activities and was a member of Arlington Story League, Business and Professional Women's Club, a book club, a sewing club and with her husband a member of The Ivory Set, a 42 club. She was active in her children's PTA groups.
In 2009 Wanda and Bob moved to Brookdale Retirement Community, where Wanda served on the Residents' Council, and where they made many new friends.
In 2011, Bob preceded her in death.
Survivors: Her son, Don; daughter, Jean Cagle; grandson, Curtis Osburn and wife, Jordan; great-grandson, Colton Osburn; great-granddaughter, Laney Osburn; brother, Rev. Bob Longshore and wife, Anita; and a number of nephews and nieces, and their families.
