Weldon “Smitty” Smith was born February 18, 1919 to Kemper and Lula Smith. Weldon was a bronze star recipient earning this honor during WWII while serving in Italy in the 10th mountain division. He retired from the Air Force in 1965 after serving for 22 years. Smitty was a wonderful husband and father with family being the most important thing to him. He was a humble man, not asking for much; he loved to read, listen to the Texas Rangers baseball games, and indulge in a piece of coconut crème pie and listen to big band music.
Weldon is preceded in death by his wife C. Nadine Smith of 55 years, father, Kemper Smith and mother, Lula Mae Smith; Brother, Jack Smith and grandson, Scott Wayne Smith. He is survived by 5 children, Shelby W. Smith and wife, Sherry of Choctaw, OK; Linda Annette Smith Current and husband, Cliff of Yantis, TX; Weldon Ray Smith of Arlington; Lou Anna Bryant and husband, Johnny of Italy and S. Kay Smith Glassmeyer and husband Arthur of Yantis; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held for Weldon "Smitty" Smith at 10 a.m. Thursday in Moore Memorial Gardens.
